Esther Joseph

I focus my sculpture on an endeavour to communicate my interpretation of reality; my passion for sculpture becomes evident with the nature of my work.

My chosen material depends upon the expression and sentiment I intend to evoke. My messages about the fragility of the human condition find substance with either clay, stone or metal, with which I am equally at home.

There is great significance to me in human movement, power and emotion and this can determine whether I describe what I see in figurative or abstract form. It is important to me that sculpture envelopes the senses; hence it pleases me greatly if my work entices people to employ their tactile, as well as visual, faculties.
